Default Beast Mastery and normal pet damage output

What's the point-of-diminishing-returns on BM? Putting aside the -75 health, is the damage jump from 12 to 16 BM worth considering, or is it too small? What about critical hit rate?

I believe it follows the same formula as weapon mastery, so the diminishing returns kick in at lvl/2 + 2. However, (1) some BM skills scale pretty well above 12 and (2) rangers are medium-high-armor midliners, so you're unlikely to be targeted by the AI despite a sup. rune.

I've got a sup BM hat for 16, don't use it much. BM 12 is good enough most of the time.

Not worth , +2 is more than enough for that.

You should check this: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Animal_companion#Damage and this excellent guide (despite the fact it's a bit old now): http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=89491 (especially post #5).

I hope it helps.
